PARISH PROPERTY UPDATE – MARCH 2026

PARISH PROPERTY UPDATE – MARCH 2026

As we continue our journey as a parish with multiple church communities, we are updating the planning for the Parish’s building programme that is progressing well. Following meetings with our preferred contractor, LT McGuinness, several key decisions have been made.

For SS Peter & Paul’s, it has been agreed that seismic strengthening and the broader            re-development, including expanded hospitality facilities, staff offices and refreshed meeting rooms; will proceed as a single integrated project. Conceptual design has now been authorised, with detailed design stages to follow prior to Council consent. On-site work is anticipated to begin early 2027, running for approximately eight to nine months. During construction, weekday Masses will be held in other Parish churches. Options for the weekend Masses are still being explored. Suggestions welcomed.

St Michael’s Church strengthening and expansion will follow completion of the SS. Peter & Paul’s project but early planning is underway.

For St Bernadette’s, subject to funding, work will include roof repairs or replacement, seismic strengthening, and minor refurbishment to ensure the church is well maintained.

Finally, as the Parish takes a further step toward closing St Martin de Porres, the property will be listed for sale next month.

We will continue to keep you updated as these projects progress.
