Respond to the Archdiocese Parish Merger Proposal

In preparation to respond to the Archdiocese Parish Merger Proposal

15th – 24th May – Novena to the Holy Spirit

24th – 31st May –  Family discussions at home around the questions.
1) Am I willing to allow the Holy Spirit to guide our communities forward?
2) What hopes do I carry for our community?
3) How can I help build a welcoming community?

1st – 9th June – Inviting communities to come together for Synodal conversations.

The question we will reflect on and share during these Synodal Conversations is:

“In view of the proposed parish merger, what is the Holy Spirit calling us to?”

We warmly invite all of us to continue praying and discerning together as a parish community. We are offering opportunities for Synodal Conversations as we listen to one another and prepare our response to Archbishop Paul regarding the proposal of merger.

1st June – 6:30 pm – St Bernadette’s Hall – 192 Naenae Road, Lower Hutt.
6th June – 9:30 am – St Martin de Porres’s Hall – 60 Knights Road, Lower Hutt.

(A Synodal Conversation is a prayerful way of listening and speaking together as the People of God, guided by the Holy Spirit. It invites people to share openly, listen respectfully, and discern together what God is asking of the Church. The focus is on walking together in faith, unity, and understanding, rather than debate or argument.)

10th – 16th June – Gathering of all ideas and opinions expressed at the synodal conversations and preparing the final response for submissions.

17th June – Final Submission

All are most welcome to provide individual feedback directly to the Archbishop’s office by Friday, 19 June 2026 (by email ea-abp@cadw.nz, by post, Archbishop’s Office, Archdiocese of Wellington, P O Box 1937, Wellington 6140).
