Join Us to See the Plans for Our Three Churches (Communities)
The planning work on our parish property projects has moved forward, and we now warmly invite you to hear directly from the Property Design Working Group, who have been leading this important work on behalf of our whole parish.
Te Awakairangi Parish Property Information Meeting
Date: Sunday 1 November
Time: 2:00 pm
Venue: St Bernadette’s Church Hall, Naenae
At the meeting, the group will update you on the work completed so far and, for the first time, share conceptual designs for the work planned for next year. This is your chance to see what is planned for all three of our churches and share your thoughts. This is a defining moment for our parish. Together, we can renew our churches for mission for today’s parishioners and secure them for our children, our grandchildren and the generations still to come. Projects of this size and vision rarely come along, and they will shape how our parish worships, gathers and serves the Hutt Valley for decades.
The plans include:
- SS. Peter & Paul’s church: Earthquake strengthening to ensure our church remains safe for everyone who worships and gathers there, along with a significantly larger hall for community activities, offices for our priests and staff, and meeting rooms for the wider community.
- St Bernadette’s church: A new roof, new toilets, and a new sound system to ensure the building remains safe, weather-tight, and comfortable for our wider community to worship, gather, celebrate their cultures, languages and identities, and strengthen our shared faith and mission for many years to come.
- St Michael’s church: additional car parking for the wider community and future expansion plans for the church.
These projects will keep our churches and halls safe, welcoming and ready to serve, not only as places of worship and prayer, but as the heart of a community that gathers, celebrates, learns and cares for those in need. At the meeting, we will discuss how we fund the works, and we want to hear your ideas and support on how we can do this together as a community. Every voice matter, and we would love you to be part of it.
We look forward to seeing you there.
