Archbishop Paul has issued a decree of deconsecration for St Martin de Porres Church, Avalon. Parishioners have 10 working days, until 26 September 2025, to lodge an objection with the Archbishop if they wish. Objections should be addressed to Archbishop Paul Martin SM and sent either by email to ea-abp@wn.catholic.org.nz or by post to P.O. Box 1937, Wellington 6140. At the end of this 10-day period, the Archbishop has 30 days to advise whether the decree will stand, be amended, or withdrawn. This is usually done promptly, but the timeframe will depend on the number and nature of objections received.
